On a beautiful Queensland afternoon, you can pack a picnic and head to one of the Gold Coast’s favourite family recreation spots; the beautiful Cascade Gardens, close by our Broadbeach resort apartments.
Set beside a serene canal, just a short stroll back from the beach, the picturesque flower gardens are an idyllic place to relax, just a stone’s throw from the bustle of central Broadbeach. You can go for leisurely walks through stretches of tranquil rainforest, admire Australian wood ducks, geese, cormorants and shags at the park’s own bird sanctuary or simply kick back for a picnic or barbecue overlooking the beautiful Nerang River.
The gardens are also home to the Queensland Korean War Memorial and the famous Kokoda Memorial Walk, a walking track designed to commemorate the lives of those who fought in Papua New Guinea during World War II. The walk extends from the heart of the gardens southwards through tropical rainforest evocative of the jungle in which soldiers fought during the Kokoda Track battle of 1942.
Elsewhere, you’ll find a huge kids playground, a beautiful rotunda, shady palm and pandanus groves and plenty of tucked away benches to escape to with a good book.
The Cascade Gardens are open daily from 6am to 6pm.
